FBU members have serious concerns about a raft of proposed cuts that will put public safety at risk.

They include cutting the second fire engine at night from Harrogate and Scarborough fire stations, changing Huntingdown fire station from full-time to part-time cover, and significantly cutting attendance to automatic fire alarm call-outs.

FBU officials have expressed serious concern that these cuts would put public safety at risk by increasing response times to emergency incidents.

The proposals have now been put to a public consultation by North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Zoe Metcalfe. The union is urging local people to reject the cuts.
