Hundreds of people attended a ceremony at Hereford cathedral on 13 May in a moving tribute to John Davies and David Morris, two firefighters who lost their lives in 1993 tackling a fire at the Sun Valley poultry processing plant in the city.
Students from Hereford’s New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering worked with craftsmen to create a lead plaque in their honour, designed by Hereford firefighters.
A red plaque, funded by the FBU lottery, was unveiled at Queenswood country park near Hereford in July 2021.
Retired and serving Hereford FBU members organised the day, with a service led by the Dean of Hereford The Revd Canon Sarah Brown, as well as words from FBU assistant general secretary Ben Selby.
