The FBU is asking members to contribute their own personal stories of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Covid public inquiry is reaching a critical stage, and is gathering evidence of how the pandemic affected key workers. The FBU has provided evidence to the inquiry in its own right and through the TUC, which is a core participant.
Firefighters and emergency control staff kept the fire and rescue service fully operational throughout the pandemic. They moved the dead, drove ambulances and delivered medicine, under a national agreement negotiated by the FBU.
More than 200,000 people died from Covid-19 during the pandemic in the UK – one of the worst death rates among comparable countries.
The Covid-19 inquiry has appealed to key workers to tell their story of what happened during the pandemic at work, in control rooms, on stations, training centres or headquarters.. This is called “Every Story Matters”. The online form for the scheme is open until Friday 23 May 2025.
