More incidents have been reported over the weekend of failings from the new ‘state of the art’ mobilising system used to get the right fire engine to the right incident with the correct information.
Emergency responses have been delayed as the IT system has repeatedly failed to notify fire stations of emergency 999 calls that have been reported.
Now the Fire Brigades Union in Essex has written to the chairman of the Essex Fire Authority Councillor Anthony Hedley asking for the authority to intervene in the interest of public and firefighter safety.
The letter, from the chair of the FBU in Essex Riccardo la Torre, asks that the fire authority clearly outline and communicate the measures that they intend to take to resolve the situation before any potentially catastrophic consequences take place.
