The strike by Essex emergency fire control staff, over an unworkable shift system change, has reached its seventh day.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have imposed a radically different shift system on the professional control operators who are now forced to work 12 hour long shifts resulting in several people being forced out of work.
Riccardo la Torre, chair for the FBU in Essex, said: “The control operators have received so much support from the public over the weekend.
“There have been more reports of worrying incidents over the weekend where engines have been delayed in being mobilised due to the ongoing IT failures with the new dispatching system.
“Essex County Fire and Rescue Service need to come back to the negotiating table as soon as possible to talk about the cost-neutral alternatives that could resolve this dispute.”
