Merseyside FBU members are taking action short of strike in response to staffing issues.
They are refusing to undertake pre-arranged overtime for up to six months; 88% of members voted for the action on an 82% turnout.
It is in response to a reduction in night-time staffing numbers in control, new shift systems, introduced without negotiation, which breach overtime rates of pay, and a non-agreed expansion of the firefighter role in contracts for new entrants.
Since December, there have been 1,500 hours of station closures and fire appliance unavailability across Merseyside.
FBU members remain determined to protect nationally and locally agreed terms and conditions of service and to ensure that all firefighters are treated equitably.
They have received overwhelming support from the public, as well as the backing of local Labour MPs and councillors.
