Firefighter holding sign that reads 'Penny Mordaunt penny pincher'

Your cut-out-and-keep guide to Tory fire ministers

Throughout the 14 years that the Conservative Party occupied 10 Downing Street, the FBU was led by one general secretary: Matt Wrack.

The Tories, on the other hand, had no fewer than 11 fire ministers. All of them were part-time, and dealt with fire alongside (at different times) building safety, the Olympics, Thames Gateway, housing, planning, policing and counter-terrorism.

With most ministers serving less than a year, it would be easy to forget who ran the fire and rescue service into the ground for the past decade-and-a half. But fear not – with Firefighter magazine’s ‘cut out and keep’ guide, you now have a collectable set of souvenirs.
