Thompsons solicitors see first-hand the impact on workers (and their families) when management treat health and safety as just a box-ticking exercise.
That is why we fight the cases but also campaign with the FBU to promote proper health and safety in the workplace.
Making a legal claim
All employers have a legal responsibility to protect employees from workplace accidents and injuries.
The law says employers should avoid risks entirely if this is possible and, if not, should minimise the risk of injury to the lowest level “reasonably practicable”.
When accidents happen, make sure any claim has the best chance of winning by ensuring that the workplace accident report is completed by the victim in their own words, that they seek medical advice and keep receipts for any injury related expenses.
The sooner they obtain legal advice, the better.
Your FBU legal package offers access to independent legal advice from personal injury specialists for you for any accident or disease claim and for your family for any non-work accident or disease claim.
In any work accident the union’s lawyers work with FBU reps to maximise the chances of success and, unlike with any non-union law firm, whatever the claim you and your family keep 100% of your compensation.
