Dear Colleagues,
On a day we were remembering what happened last year in Brussels, and has happened since, it was sad to get the news of the terror attack in Westminster. Again people were killed and many injured in an act of violence on a place so many of us know, having walked there for work or leisure. Our thoughts are with the men and women, their families, friends and co-workers that will miss a loved one, and with those injured, some fighting for their life.
Public services workers stood out in their reaction, their care and service to the people affected. We salute the actions of those people who sought to help those injured directly after the attacks and we salute the work of the ambulance drivers, firefighters, doctors, nurses and medical staff, other emergency workers and of the police who saw one of the colleagues being killed.
With the events of Brussels fresh in our hearts and minds, we know that standing tall and strong together across our workplaces, borders and cultures is the response that gives us the strength and courage to face up to the fear and anxiety these acts seek to achieve and to the discrimination, racism and xenophobia which are often the result.
