Although there are several issues with the ECFRS IRMP Consultation Document 2015-2020 this report concentrates on the statistics utilised by ECFRS as the foundation for their IRMP consultation document.
The ECFRS IRMP consultation document states “The number of people killed in fires is thankfully low and is decreasing”. Whereas, both fire death and casualty statistics for Essex have remained consistent and are cause for serious concern; they are abnormally high and stand in stark contrast to the downward trends nationally.
ECFRS has failed to highlight that this coincides with a failure to reduce dwelling fires in Essex, again out of step with the falling numbers nationally.
