Policy text
Annual Conference condemns the decision of Cornwall County Council of 13
February 2007 to approve a budget that if implemented will see the downgrading of the only two 24 hour crewed fire stations in Cornwall to day crewed.
Annual Conference recognises that this decision is based on finance and not due to any other factor, which is contrary to the concept and guidance of Integrated Risk Management Planning.
Annual Conference recognises the increased risk to firefighters and communities
from any downgrading of fire stations and calls upon the Executive Council to raise, as a matter of urgency, this issue with the Minister with responsibility for the Fire and Rescue Service.
Annual Conference also congratulates Fire Brigades Union members in Cornwall in their opposition to these dangerous proposals and offers full support to any action they take in defence of these cuts in service.
