The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has offered its condolences to the victims of today’s (9 Nov) tram crash in Croydon, south London which has so far claimed the lives of seven people. Over 70 firefighters from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) have been at the scene all day utilising eight fire engines and five fire rescue units which carry specialist rescue equipment.
Paul Embery, secretary of the FBU in London, said: “Our thoughts are with everyone caught up in this tragedy. Every firefighter who responded today will have been working their hearts out to save and rescue as many people as possible.
“After an incident like this, where there have been multiple fatalities, we need to make sure our firefighters are offered counselling and appropriate aftercare. They have witnessed absolutely dreadful scenes today.”
