The leader of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU), Matt Wrack, today told delegates at the Scottish Trades Union Congress, that the Panama papers have exposed the lie that our society can’t afford decent public services.
Wrack said: “Systematic tax avoidance, the Panama papers have shown, is everyday business practice among large sections of the British establishment, the ultra rich and big business. It is not true that our society can’t afford properly funded public services, good pay or pensions.
“The resources to fund all of these things exist, but they are in the hands of a tiny minority of very wealthy people who are robbing the majority of us year in year out of the properly funded critical public services we all need and deserve.”
