To coincide with this years Conservative party conference Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary, spoke at a protest organised by the People’s Assembly in Manchester.
In his speech Matt Wrack warns that Jeremy Corbyn, the newly elected Labour leader, will face continued attacks in order to undermine the campaign for a genuine, anti-austerity, socialist country and that campaigners should begin organising amongst themselves.
In the speech he says: “We’re often told that in politics its all about managing things and all the big ideas are in the past. Well I think that’s false. There is nothing wrong about having ideals .The idea that we could live in a world that isn’t run in the interests of profits for the tiny minority but run democratically for the majority that challenges poverty, unemployment, low pay and the threat of climate change.”
