Chris McGlone has been elected to represent Scotland on the Fire Brigades Union’s executive council.
McGlone will take up the position succeeding Roddy Robertson who retired earlier this month.
Commenting on the news Chris McGlone said: “I am absolutely delighted and proud to have been elected the executive council member for Scotland. It will be an honour and a privilege to represent our Scottish members. I will do my best by them.
“I would like to pay tribute to Denise Christie and Ken Ross for ensuring our members had a genuine choice between three very different candidates and I look forward to working with them both to represent our members.
“The fire and rescue service in Scotland has undergone massive structural changes against a backdrop of indiscriminate cuts. My priority is to build upon the work of my predecessors and continue our fight for a safer and fairer fire and rescue service.
“Scotland will wholeheartedly support comrades in England in their fight for pension justice. I will look to my colleagues on the executive council for direction and guidance in this areas and take their counsel.”
Based in Glasgow McGlone, 50, began his career with Strathclyde Fire Brigade in 1988 first starting out at Govan fire station.
