Retired and out of trade members are being called upon to support active firefighters as they prepare to take strike action on the 25 February over an unworkable pension scheme being imposed by the Westminster government.
Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary, has written to all out of trade members asking that they show their support and attend the unions No More Lies protest and rally in Westminster that coincides with the strike action.
The FBU is working to protect the pensions of retired and out of trade members by continuing the fairer commutation campaign attempting to get backdated lump sum payments for almost 6000 members, trying to ensure that members who joined between ages 18-20 receive compensation for any age discrimination that has taken place and providing advice on pension appeals and medical reviews.
