Firefighters in England completed four days of strike action against plans by the Westminster government to push through pension plans that are unfair, unaffordable and unsustainable.
Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary, said: “Firefighters have shown great solidarity and been given a magnificent reception by the public who understand they are fighting for a fair and affordable pension.
“We are now asking the public to support firefighters by lobbying their MP’s to sign EDM 454 in order to get a House of Commons debate on firefighters’ pension and hold this government to account for their actions.
“Firefighters will return to work tonight with their heads held high knowing that the public support them in this ongoing dispute.”
