The Focus E15 mothers of Stratford, East London have received a message of solidarity from the Fire Brigades Union.
The group of 29 mothers are campaigning to highlight the number of empty properties in the London Borough of Newham at a time when thousands of people are on waiting lists for social housing.
Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary, said: “There is a chronic need for good quality council and other social housing in this country.
“As one of the richest nations on earth, we shouldn’t be in the situation where vulnerable mothers and children are left in a constant state of uncertainty of where they’ll live and whether they’ll be made homeless.
“The E15 mothers have the complete solidarity and support of the Fire Brigades Union. They are setting a fantastic example to us all about how people should stand up for what is right.”
