The FBU continues to discuss with government Ministers at Westminster and elsewhere in an attempt to resolve the long running dispute over firefighter pensions.
DCLG fire minister, Penny Mordaunt had previously written to the union suggesting a meeting in the week commencing 8 September. This meeting took place on 11 September. Further discussions have taken place since and are continuing, as FBU negotiators seek to clarify the current position of DCLG on various issues. In addition, the FBU continues to seek specialist advice on various aspects of the issues under discussion.
Discussions on pensions have also continued during the past few days with the other relevant departments in Wales, Scotland and N Ireland.
The union’s executive council meets next week (week commencing 15 September) to asses whether any progress has been made in these latest discussions.
