Firefighters have re-elected Matt Wrack as Fire Brigades Union general secretary, to serve a further five years defending the UK fire and rescue service.

Matt Wrack said: “I would like to thank FBU members who have again put their trust in me as general secretary. It is a great privilege to represent firefighters. Having stood on my record, I am immensely proud that members have given me a mandate to serve for another term.

“My re-election is a signal to the government and fire service employers that the FBU remains resolute and united in our campaigns on pensions and against cuts. The FBU is the professional voice of firefighters. I recommit myself to energetically articulating the views and aspirations of firefighters at every opportunity in the coming period.”
