Ian Murray, who represents Yorkshire and Humberside on the FBU’s executive council, has been elected unopposed to be the FBU’s next vice-president.

The position, which is elected every four years, is responsible for presiding over union meetings whEen the president is absent, and may also take on other duties when they are assigned by the executive council.

Ian will take up the position when the current vice-president Jim Barbour, who represents N Ireland, stands down.

The executive council has also announced that it will soon hold an election for the position of president.

Alan McLean currently holds the position and is also eligible for re-election.

The union’s president is responsible for chairing all union conferences, meetings of the executive council and other events as directed by the executive council. The position is elected every four years and anyone serving on the executive council who has been a union member for at least four years is eligible.

Members will receive nomination forms for president in the near future.
