Following a meeting a meeting with the Westminster fire minister, Brandon Lewis, the FBU’s executive council met on Thursday 15 May to discuss the ongoing pensions campaign.
Matt Wrack, the union’s general secretary has written to members to update them on recent developments.
The government’s revision of how much firefighters who earn between £27,000 and £50,000 will pay towards their pensions to 12.2% for 2015 is covered in the circular, as well as the announcement that an immanent public consultation on the issue of fitness and capability and its inclusion within the DCLG National Framework and the implement of the ‘Proposed Final Agreement’ through consultation and parliamentary procedure.
