Members of the National Union of Teachers will strike on Wednesday (26 March) over pension changes, workload, bureaucracy and performance-related pay.
Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary, said: “The Fire Brigades Union totally supports the NUT in their campaign to protect their members’ pensions and to defend teachers from the aggressive attacks on their conditions by this government.
“Firefighters’ are also now fighting to protect their pensions from the government’s agenda — and face deteriorating conditions as the fire and rescue service experiences the worst cuts in our history.
“Whether in education, firefighting or health, this government seems determined to save money at any cost — including risking life and undermining our children’s future. We must stand together and demonstrate that through dialogue and investment we can create another way.”
