The executive council of the Fire Brigades Union met yesterday (Thursday 23 January) to discuss recent talks with the English Fire Minister.
Discussions on key technical pension scheme issues between union and government officials have been ongoing, and the meeting with the Minister on Wednesday 22 January was a mid-point ‘health-check’ on these discussions.
At the meeting, the Minister and the FBU both said they were pleased that the technical discussions were progressing and that no blocks to the dialogue had arisen.
A report on the outcomes of the technical work would be presented at the next meeting between the FBU and the Minister on Tuesday 28 January.
The FBU’s executive council will meet on 29 January 2014 to discuss the next steps of the campaign.
You can read a circular 2014HOC0065AD for FBU members on these talks from the union’s Assistant General Secretary, Andy Dark.
