The Fire Brigades Union has responded to the Department for Communities and Local Government’s consultation on proposed increases to firefighters’ pension contribution rates in 2014.
The union’s response outlines firefighters’ concerns over the proposals, describing them as ‘unjustified and self-defeating’.
The FBU submitted similar responses to consultations in 2012 and 2013, and this year’s document reiterates many key problems that the union says remain unaddressed.
Alongside the paper the FBU submitted an analysis by First Actuarial of a recent Yougov survey of firefighters on the government’s proposals and potential implications for firefighters’ pension schemes.
