Commenting on today’s industrial action by members of the CWU over closures, franchising, job losses in post offices, Matt Wrack, General Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union said: “Firefighters are united with post office workers in the campaign against unnecessary and damaging attacks on all public services.
“Whether it’s because of the closure of post offices or fire stations, local communities will suffer from a government strategy that defies all sense.
“Ministers can’t just put their fingers in their ears and ignore the voice of reason. Post office staff and firefighters understand best how to protect services and serve the public, and the government must come back and take negotiations seriously to avoid further industrial action.”
