Dear Brother/Sister
Firefighters Memorial Day – Sunday 4th May 2025
Firefighters Memorial Day is on Sunday 4th May. It is an international day of remembrance for all firefighters and fire and rescue service workers across the world.
The Firefighters Memorial Trust, fully supported by the Fire Brigades Union, is calling for a minute of silence to remember the bravery and sacrifice of all firefighters who have died in the line of duty, including over 2,300 UK firefighters.
The minute's silence should begin at 12 midday and, as has now become customary, should be called and ended by the sounding of appliance sirens or other appropriate means.
We would encourage members who are off duty and as many retired and out of trade members as possible to join firefighters at fire stations or at other workplaces on this special day to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
If you have a special event planned, or for example your MP is attending, please contact us on [email protected] and let us know. For more information, please see our specific webpage which you can share across networks: https://www.fbu.org.uk/campaigns/remembering-ourfallen-heroes
I hope all FBU members will play a part in Firefighters Memorial Day. This is an opportunity to honour all those who have died while serving their communities.
Yours in unity,
Steve Wright
General Secretary
