London Ballot – MTA – Balloting Arrangements
This circular is further to Head Office circular 2021HOC0631AD/2021HOC632AD sent on 21 December 2021. If you no longer have a copy of that circular, it is available on the FBU website. That circular contained the following paragraph:
A home address individual ballot will be conducted early in the New Year where the members in each of the two brigades will be able to cast their vote to accept or reject the offer made by their employer.
I am now able to confirm that following discussion with the Scrutineer, the details of the ballot are as follows:
The ballot will commence on: Friday 14 January 2022
The ballot will conclude on: Monday 7 February 2022
Each member in London for whom we have been provided with a current home address will receive a ballot paper. Accompanying the ballot paper will be information concerning how members may, alternatively, cast their vote online. No members will be able to have his/her vote recorded twice.
In advance of the commencement of the ballot, we bring these matters to your attention:
1. It is vital that members make the decision on this matter through the ballot.
2. However each member intends to vote, i.e. whether to accept or to reject, the Executive Council urges all members to cast your vote.
To that end:
3. We urge all members to update your contact information (i.e. address, email address etc.) The form for doing so can be found on this link:

4. We want to ensure members are informed of all the relevant matters which need to be considered. Please attend the meetings which will be arranged by your officials.
5. We ask members to ensure that you have read Head Office circular 2021HOC0629AD/2021HOC0630AD in order to assess:
- The strengths of the provisions in the offer;
- The reasons why the Executive Council, despite the shortcomings in the offer, is recommending the offer should be accepted;
- It will be made clear that the union is not suggesting that this offer is a panacea;
- The comprehensive information that the circular provides including the full implications of rejection of the offer.
The Executive Council asks you to engage in the consultation, to cast your vote and urges you to support the EC position and recommendation that the offer be accepted.
