FBU Conference 2020
Members will be aware that the Union’s Annual Conference, due to be held in May 2020, was postponed with a view to it being rearranged for later in the year.
Provisional arrangements were put in place with the venue (Grand Hotel, Brighton) for holding the Conference in November 2020. At the time of the postponement it was unclear to what extent Covid-19 would impact on society or the functioning of the Union. As time has progressed it has become clear that the disruption we have now become used to, will continue to have a bearing on our ability to function as normal for the foreseeable future.
Whilst the Westminster Government is pressing for a return to normality as swiftly as possible, it is clear that there remains a huge amount of uncertainty, with the added threat of a second wave of the virus in the autumn.
In light of this the Executive Council has made the difficult decision to cancel Conference for 2020.
This decision was not reached lightly, but has been made in the best interests of our Union and those officials who would be required to attend. Arrangements for Conference 2021 remain in place and it is due to be held in May at the Imperial Hotel, Blackpool.
