NJC CIRCULAR – NJC/3/20 – LEAVE DURING CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

New legislation has been introduced which vary the provisions in the Working Time regarding the carrying over of leave that cannot be taken in any leave year because of employers’ requirements for the availability of employees arising from the coronavirus crisis.

The legislation was passed on Friday 27 March 2020, having been laid in Parliament only the day before. It has immediate effect.

This circular brings this legislative change to the attention of fire and rescue service employers and FBU members. Although a copy of the statutory instrument containing these changes is not a part of the NJC circular, a copy has been provided with this FBU all members circular for information.
