Pay and the future of the fire and rescue service - FBU Conference debate

At our recent conference in Blackpool, FBU delegates debated issues around pay and the future of the fire and rescue service.

Delegates were given a report on the current stage of discussion with the fire service employers and with government ministers across the UK. This included an approach by the Scottish fire and rescue service for discussions regarding the position in Scotland. Those discussions have now commenced.

A meeting of the National Joint Council takes place on 11 June and further reports will follow.

Two key decisions were to support emergency resolutions from the Executive Council and from Cambridgeshire. These are included below.

The Executive Council will now be taking steps to implement the decisions of Conference, including planning the next stages of campaigning. These will be explained in subsequent circulars.
