Members will be aware of the dates and time periods notified previously calling on members to take strike action on 15 December (RDS only) and 16 December (all members).
Members will also be aware of continued efforts made by your Essex Brigade Officials to secure talks aimed at resolving the dispute and the option raised on 5th December by the Essex Brigade Secretary with the Service regarding an extension to the legislative time scales by which strike action must be called. I am pleased to inform you that an agreement has been reached with the Essex Fire Authority to extend the lawful period of ballot validity. As a consequence and to assist the talks due to commence next Monday 15th December, I am pleased to be able to inform you that the strike periods previously notified for 15 December and 16 December have been CANCELLED.
We hope the Essex trade dispute can be resolved shortly. If not, further dates/details of lawful strike action in respect of this ongoing trade dispute with Essex Fire Authority will be notified once determined.
Please also be reminded that the Action Short Of Strike in respect of the national pensions dispute continues to be in place until further notice.
