You will have read recent circulars and heard from your local officials that the government has been consulting on a third year of pension contribution increases for firefighters. The proposal is to apply increases of 1.3% for FPS members and 0.8% for members of the NFPS. The Scottish Government has so far not formally proposed this, although they are expected to follow suit shortly.
This is a very disappointing development and ignores many of the concerns we have presented. In order for us to maintain pressure on all politicians to think again about the unfair and unjust increase, we are asking all members to write to their Westminster MP using the model letter attached. Please inform your branch/brigade officials of any response you receive.
