Please find enclosed an appeal from the Durham Miners' Association seeking financial support to ensure the future of the Durham Miners' Gala. You will see from the leaflet that the Gala "was first held 142 years ago and is the biggest celebration of trade union and community values in Britain today".
It costs £2 a month or a one off payment of £24 to become a member and I would urge all members to give consideration to supporting the Gala in whatever financial way possible.
