Every year, Pride of Britain asks us if we know an unsung hero. And the answer is that we all do, even if we don’t know their names.
They are the firefighters who run into burning buildings to rescue us, the police officers who risk their lives to keep us safe, the paramedics who go above and beyond the call of duty to save lives, and the coastguard and lifeboat volunteers who perform death-defying rescues in the most treacherous conditions.
Ever since we’ve been involved with the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, some of the most remarkable stories of heroism have come from the emergency services. We’ll never forget the astonishing bravery and dedication of last year’s winners, the emergency medical team who ripped up the health and safety rulebook to climb the Alton Towers rollercoaster and save the lives of the young victims of that horrendous crash.
That’s why we’re delighted that This Morning is joining the search for this year’s winners. The This Morning Emergency Services Award is for police, fire, ambulance, paramedics or air, sea or mountain rescue who have gone beyond the call of duty. You have until Friday 2nd September 2016 to nominate your heroes.
It’s easy to take them for granted until the terrifying moment you need them, so this award is a brilliant opportunity to remind us all of the debt we owe these incredible, selfless people.
So please, please, take a moment to tell us about members of the emergency services who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Every nomination will be considered by the Pride of Britain research team, and the winners will be chosen from a shortlist by the Pride of Britain judging panel.
