With a snap general election underway, the latest edition of Firefighter magazine, now online, calls on members to vote for a Labour government which will start investing in public services. Since the Conservatives came to power in 2010 – on the promise of no frontline cuts - funding for fire services has been squeezed like never before, the result being an unprecedented 10,000 job losses. If this continues, we face a bleak future.
Elsewhere in the magazine, we roundup business from our 90th conference that took place last month in Blackpool and we hear the inspiring trailblazing story of women firefighters working to keep the U.K. safe during the second world war.
All this and more in the June issue of Firefighter.
