Future negotiation framework for national terms and conditions

Conference acknowledges the fundamental importance of the National Joint Council (NJC),
particularly surrounding its facility of providing a crucial forum where employer and employee
representatives can professionally negotiate national Grey Book terms and conditions.
It is therefore the view of Conference that it is critical that the NJC and its remit is continued into
the future, regardless of any potential future fi re and rescue governance changes.

Conference seeks robust confi rmation of this intention, to signify a continued commitment and
desire from both parties to pursue and maintain positive industrial relations.

Conference therefore instructs the Executive Council to raise this matter urgently with employer
representatives and the Home Offi ce, to secure a mutual commitment with this regard in the
interest of all parties moving forward.
