Education annual prospectus

Conference acknowledges the valuable contribution made by our Union Learning Representatives across the UK. 

Providing educational opportunity is of fundamental importance to effect positive change both within our industry, society as a whole and to achieve our objectives as a Trade Union.

Conferences notes that planning in advance is becoming ever increasingly important to ensure Members can secure facilities time when needed.

Conference therefore requests that the Executive Council implement a transition of our national education program, to a policy of annual planning. Conference request the Executive Council make arrangements for an annual prospectus outlining the available Union Learning courses for the entire forthcoming calendar year to be produced before 1st December each year.

The annual prospectus would include but not be limited to; course synopsis, date(s) of the courses, location of the courses, application forms.

This would allow Members, Brigade Committees and Union Learning Reps adequate time to make arrangements for applications and attendance at these courses. Additional local course requirements can still be arranged on an ad hoc basis around this policy framework.

Conference instructs the Executive Council to develop this new policy and produce the first annual prospectus for the calendar year 2018.
