Control staff pay rates

Conference acknowledges the extremely stressful and demanding role carried out by our Members in Emergency Fire Controls across the United Kingdom. Like that of operational Members the role of Control Members is expanding and becoming more diverse, especially with the introduction of new initiatives such as Emergency Medical Response. Conference calls upon the Executive Council to conduct a review into the pay rates of Control Staff with a view to bringing the rate up to 100% of that of our operational colleagues’ pay instead of the current rate of 95%. This review has been asked for on a number of occasions previously, for example Resolution 55, Equal Pay from the Control Staff National Committee which was remitted to the Executive Council at Conference 2013.

The Executive Council’s own Policy Statement to Special Conference in 2012 on pay states that there should be further research into the claim for equal pay for Control Staff Members. This work must be incorporated into the current work being conducted by the Executive Council into pay.
