Introduction of new mobilising systems

Conference is outraged at the continuing practice by Fire and Rescue Services of implementing new mobilising systems before full and thorough testing has taken place and therefore placing our Members and the general public at risk. A number of Services have recently introduced new or upgraded mobilising systems which have not been fit for purpose. On numerous occasions control Members have had to resort to taking emergency calls using pen and paper, and alerting stations by mobile telephones. The stress levels for our control Members, along with the obvious dangers to operational firefighters and the public are intolerable. Conference, therefore instructs the Executive Council, following consultation with the Control Staff National Committee, to raise this issue at all relevant forums to highlight the risks and prevent this dangerous and unacceptable practice from being repeated. Conference further requests that the Executive Council report back to Conference 2017 any progress made in this matter.
