Victimisation of Brother Matthews

This conference condemns the current management regime in Buckinghamshire
where the employer has summarily dismissed Brother Matthews for undertaking
lawful strike action.

There was:
● NO disciplinary investigation
● NO disciplinary hearing
● NO opportunity for Bro. Matthews to state his case, and;
● NO opportunity to appeal the decision

These are fundamental, basic employment rights which should be provided to all
employees. It is an absolute disgrace that a tax payer funded, public sector
organisation can act in such a draconian and dictatorial manner.

This Conference demands that the FBU continues to provide unyielding support to
Bro. Matthews until such time as he has been re-instated by Buckinghamshire Fire
and Rescue Service.

Conference further demands that if an Employment Tribunal or higher authority orders
the re-instatement of Brother Matthews and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue
Authority refuse to comply with that order that an immediate emergency meeting of
the Executive Council will be convened to discuss our response which should include
discussion over National Industrial action.
