National breathing apparatus (BA) standards

In view of the widespread introduction of new BA practice and procedure, through
closely coordinated efforts by over 30 brigades, using the DCLG BA Guidance to
dilute current safety standards in order to fit local Integrated Risk Management Plans
and widespread service cuts. Conference demands that the Executive Council
challenge this approach centrally, instead of relying on individual Brigade Health and
Safety Representatives, supported primarily by their Brigade Committees. Such a key
safety critical area as BA needs a clear national standard.
