Pay

This Conference condemns the vicious attacks by the Government on Fire Service
and other public sector budgets in the name of austerity.

This Conference also condemns the decision by our employers not to implement a
pay increase in 2010 and 2011.

Conference also notes that the one per-cent pay increase awarded in 2012 was
almost negated by the pension contribution increase.

This Conference is of the opinion that the pay increases received over the last seven
years, when offset against inflation increases over the same period, leaves FBU
members in a worse financial position and as such has worsened their living
standards.

This being the case and with more pension contribution increases being proposed,
this Conference demands that discussions on any proposed pay increase for 2013
take these issues into account when considering any offers put forward by the
employers and ensures that FBU members gain a pay increase in real terms when
offset by any pension increases implemented.
