Continuous professional development (CPD)

The introduction of the Continuous Professional Development payment (CPD) in 2007
also came with some national guidance from the FBU. In the time since then
considerable local variation in the interpretation of this guidance will have crept in, not
least from unscrupulous Fire and Rescue Services seeking to cut their wages bill.
Conference calls upon the Executive Council to examine some means of providing
and sharing information between FBU Officials in various Brigades, perhaps by the
use of a central information point, electronic library or database available via the FBU
website.

This would assist local Officials and give them the information they need to
help ensure that local variations do not depart too far from the national position. A
similar facility on other national matters e.g. IRMP responses, which have local
variations would also greatly assist FBU Officials.
