Tax Justice Campaign

Conference demands the Executive Council lobby the TUC and STUC to ensure the Trade Union & Labour Movement launches a major campaign calling for Tax Justice aimed at ensuring a progressive taxation system applicable to all that provides a fair means of redistributing wealth and secures appropriate sustainable funding for high quality Public Services. This campaign to: ● Illuminate corporate tax evasion and avoidance strategies that permit Trans National Corporations that make huge profits in this country to pay little or no tax on their profits and demand an end to the tax loopholes that permit this scandal that results in up to £120 billion pounds of unpaid taxes; ● Expose and demand an end to the preferential treatment of so called Non- domiciled individuals; ● Illuminate and demand an end to the tax evasion and avoidance strategies of wealthy individuals; ● Demand the cancellation of the job cuts at HMRC and the robust application of existing tax law; ● Support the campaign for a tax on all financial transactions to fight poverty at home and overseas (Robin Hood Tax); ● Expose the vast windfall profits made by banks and financial institutions as a result of the UK Government’s “quantative easing” programme and demand these are subject to a windfall tax; ● Support the action of UK Uncut in exposing the tax avoidance strategies of big business by non violent direct action.
