Specification For Vehicles Being Driven By Flexi Duty System Officers

This Conference calls upon the Executive Council to produce a report which focuses on the minimum specification/standard required for vehicles being driven by Flexi Duty System (FDS) officers whilst responding to incidents on blue lights. The National Policing Improvement Agency has identified a number of vehicles in use by Police forces as being appropriate for response driving, taking account of New Car Assessment Programme safety ratings and certain modifications including the upgrading of braking and suspension systems. FDS officers are currently responding to incidents in vehicles that may not be suitable for emergency response driving and a national standard should be adopted in consultation with police and ambulance partners.
