Integrated Personal Development System

The Integrated Personal Development System was formulated to address Health and Safety issues that arose through firefighter deaths and injuries in the 1990s. Whilst we acknowledge that its implementation has been inconsistent, it is still fundamental to firefighter safety. The Fire Minister’s statement that the Government will not be enforcing national policy upon Fire and Rescue Services has seen many seeking to dismiss the Integrated Personal Development System as ‘dead’, or at best to reduce the importance they place upon its delivery and workforce development. Conference calls upon the Executive Council to campaign against any attempts to dilute the Integrated Personal Development System, and to ensure that officials have the knowledge and understanding to enable them to support this campaign locally.
