Firefighter Magazine - Publication & Distribution Costs

Following the publication of the Annual Report 2011, this conference is perturbed by the annual cost of £210,000 approximately, for the publication and distribution of Firefighter magazine, at a time when we are considering the need to make stringent cuts within the Fire Brigades Union. We call on the Executive Council to urgently enquire into how these costs arise and where savings can be made. For example, are there benefits to be gained by promoting the option of registration for electronic distribution of Firefighter magazine amongst members and Retired and Out of Trade Members to save on production and distribution costs? The potential advantages of this being both environmental and financial. A report back to Regional Committees on the findings of the survey, complete with recommendations, should be made within 6 months of this conference, and steps to apply the conclusions to be implemented immediately on their approval.
