Support For Palestine

Conference notes the FBU's recent involvement in supporting the Palestinian people. In particular, Conference applauds the initiative that enabled eight Nablus firefighters to visit Scotland and North West England to undertake Fire Service based training, and the TUC resolution that led to the boycott of Israeli goods produced in the occupied territories. Following several visits to the West Bank by FBU members over recent years, it is recognised that we now have good contacts with the Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) and firefighters from the Nablus Fire Department, and it is important that these links are maintained. To this end, the Executive Council should continue to promote through the International Committee: • Solidarity visits to the region by members with a view to encouraging new active supporters to the Palestinian cause. • Collaboration with other organisations such as the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (PSC) and the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). • Initiatives that aim to provide PPE and firefighting equipment to the West Bank and Gaza. • Training initiatives for Palestinian firefighters.
