Retired Members Section

At present, when FBU members retire from the Fire Service they can choose to become an ʻOut of Tradeʼ member of the Fire Brigades Union. However, as ʻOut of Tradeʼ members, they have very little interaction with the Union after retirement. It is recognised that many of these members were extremely active within the Union and would be willing to continue to actively support the aims and aspirations of the Union. This Conference calls upon the Executive Council to undertake a feasibility study into having a ʻRetired Membersʼ Section within the Fire Brigades Union structure. It is understood that this would take extensive research and ultimately Rule changes, so the Executive Council should report back to Conference as early as is reasonably practical.
